Fungi the Dingle Dolphin
In 1984, a young bottle-nosed dolphin started to appear at the mouth of Dingle Harbour. The now world-famous dolphin has remained in Dingle since, and has become both a friend to the locals and a great "attraction" for visitors.
Every June and July, schools of dolphins are to be seen in the area, although usually further offshore, and once or twice Fungi has been seen playing with these groups.
Its a rear experience to be able to swim with a dolphin. Here in Dingle Bay you have the opportunity to hire wet suits, gloves, boots, fins, a snorkel, & goggles and avail of a two hour long boat trip out to see Fungi in he's natural environment. Once you arrive at the mouth of the harbour you can jump in and spend time swimming around or just watch him dive around you.
At the Quayside B&B, you are one minutes from the head of the pier where you have the chance to see Fungi, wild and free in his natural habitat. On the two hour early morning swimming trips from 08.00 to 10.00, the visitor has the chance to swim with Fungi in the peace and tranquility of Dingle Harbour. Fungi boat trips as apposed to swimming trips) leave in the hour every hour.

The Great Blasket Islands
The Great Blasket Island, the most westerly point in Europe, is the largest of a group of islands located just 3 miles off the tip of the Dingle Peninsula. The Great Blasket Island, separated from the mainland by the Blasket Sound, is by far the largest of the islands. Inishvickillane, Inishnabro and Tearaght Island are to the West and South West of the Great Blasket The remaining island Beginish is a small, low-lying island.
The Island in the twentieth century was home to some of the country's most important native Gaelic writers. Their work, in the native Gaelic and through translations into English and other languages has achieved worldwide recognition. The Blasket Islands are of great importance for breeding seabirds. The sea cliffs, and deep ocean ensure the Islands are home to a diversity of breeding seabirds amongst the highest in Ireland or Britain.
